If you can picture yourself sitting on a large Mediterranean style terrace overlooking the sea and tucking into a plate of fresh locally produced food then you should definitely pay a visit to Pontus by the Sea. This French brasserie in Skeppsbron is perfectly located in the heart of Stockholm’s Gamla Stan (old city). It is a favourite not just for its good quality cuisine and excellent location but also for its relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

The menu is predominately inspired by French and Italian cuisine and there is a selection of fresh seafood available every day. For dinner you can choose between the popular A la carte menu and a lighter option of cheeses, cured meats and provisions. Pontus by the Sea is also a popular choice at lunchtime. The buffet, at a very reasonable 99kr, is highly recommended.

Soaking up the atmosphere on the cushioned outdoor seating looking out towards Stockholm’s famous Archipelago and watching the boats cruise around the harbour, it’s hard not to feel relaxed.

I visited Pontus by the Sea two days ago with a friend after making reservation through this site. Worked like a charm and seconds after submitting my request online I had gotten a sms and an email confirming with a confirmation of my booking. Brilliant! The restaurant was very busy for a monday night but service was quick and efficient. We both had the dish of halibut, salmon, shrimps and mucles. The dish was good but could have used more flavor. After dinner we enjoyed drinks on the terrace before heading back to our hotel. Pontus is also a very cool looking place with it´s funky decor and lighting.
