This truly unique museum contains the only intact 17th century ship in the world. Vasa is an immense warship that was commissioned by the king when Sweden was at war with Poland. When it set sail from Stockholm in 1628, it was barely out of the harbour when it sank and over 50 people were killed.
In 1956 a marine archeologist located the magnificent ship and it has now been restored and put in the Vasamuseet – less than a nautical mile from where it sank. Over 95% of the ship is original. As well as containing the ship, Vasamuseet also tells its incredible story in detail.
The Vasamuseet is one of the most popular attractions in Stockholm and is well worth a visit. It can get very busy so it is best to arrive as early as you can.
The entrance fee is 95 SEK for adults, 50 SEK for students and children (up to 18yrs) are allowed in free of charge.

Great place to visit

I and my husband really enjoyed the Vasa museum in Stockholm. We really had little idea on what to expect but it was a pleasant surprise for us. I could have spent hours there but I had to head to the airport after only 1,5 hours :( Will visit again if ever in Stockholm.
