Out from the city area and right next to Gamla Stan you´ll find Blasieholmen & Skeppsholmen. During Sweden´s era of great power in the 17th and 18th century, few palaces and elegant houses were built in the area but its present form was acquired in the 19th century with building such as the National museum were built. Today the area is home to high-end hotels, entertainment venues, auction houses, art galleries and second hand shops.
