1. Gamla stan / Old city
Gamla stan, or the old city, is located between the areas of Södermalm and the city center. The area is an island with medieval architecture, cobbled narrow streets and endless charm with a history dating back to the 13th century. 2. Royal Palace
Located on Stadsholmen, right next to Sweden´s parliament you´ll find the Royal Palace. It is one of ten royal palaces in Stockholm and is the official residence and offices of the royal family. The palace can be visited and guided tours are available. The changing of the guards outside the palace is also a popular and historically relevant event that lasts around 40 minutes.

3. Djurgården island
This island, located only a stone’s throw away from central Stockholm, gets over 10 million visitors every year. Djurgården is more or less one big park and makes for a wonderful walk. If you are into more action there is always the option of visiting Grona Lund Tivoli that is located on the island.

4. Grona Lund Tivoli
Located on the island of Djurgården is an amusement park that dates back over 200 years. The park itself is not big and has a modest number of 30 attractions inside. During summertime the venue is a popular location for concerts and other festivals. Bob Marley and Jimi Hendrix are among the artists that have performed there.

5. Visit a museum
Stockholm is literally filled with magnificent museums on almost every single thing related to Sweden´s history. 6. Stockholm shopping
Stockholm has a great variety of stores located conveniently in or close to the city center. Everything from second hand shops to high end fashion and jewelry can be found so that your experience is limited only by your credit limit. Many stores in Stockholm offer tax free shopping where you can get as much as 19% refunded.
7. Drottningholm Palace
Built in the 1600s the Drottningholm Palace is today featured on UNESCO´s World Heritage list. The palace is a window into the European architectural style at the time but also has some very exotic features that are rare in similar buildings. The palace is open for visitors and the easiest way to get there is by a boat that departs from Stadshuskajen (the City Hall Quay) to Drottningholm.

8. The Archipelago

9. Restaurants and nightlife
Stockholm has a great selection of restaurants that take advantage of the proximity to the ocean and offer fresh seafood daily. Many of them are located by the sea for you to enjoy the romantic setting of the Venice of the North.
10. City hall (Stadhuset)
On the eastern tip of Kungsholmen stands Stockholm´s city hall, home to the Nobel Prize banquet and one of the city´s major attractions. Completed in 1923 the building is considered to be one of Sweden´s greatest examples of national romanticism in architecture.
